Luis Figo features in the plans of new Inter coach Jose Mourinho and the club will meet the midfielder shortly to discuss a new contract, president Massimo Moratti said.

"We'll meet next week. We don't want to put Figo under pressure or rush him because it's his decision," Moratti told reporters.

"Mourinho has already spoken to the player and asked us to keep him."

The 35-year-old former Ballon d'Or winner and FIFA World Player of the Year recently said he would like to renew his contract with the Serie A champions, which runs out this month.

Gamberini not joining Bayern

Fiorentina defender Alessandro Gamberini will not join Bayern Munich this summer, his agent told reporters. Gamberini was one of Fiorentina's top performers last season and earned a call-up to Italy's Euro 2008 squad after Fabio Cannavaro's injury a few days before the tournament.

There are rumours that Bayern Munich are considering uniting Gamberini with compatriot Luca Toni at the Allianz Arena, but they seem to be unfounded.

"I can say that there has been no contact with Bayern and I actually heard the rumour from you for the first time," agent Francesco Romano told reporters.

"There is nothing to report, but of course it is flattering to hear that such a club are interested in my client."

Park to miss Beijing Games

Manchester United's Park Ji-Sung has been ruled out of South Korea's Olympic squad because of injury. The 27-year-old midfielder was in the frame for selection as one of the squad's three over 23-year olds.

But Park, who missed Saturday's World Cup qualifying win in Turkmenistan, is struggling with an injured left knee, having previously had surgery in 2007.

"Unfortunately, Park will not be selected for the Olympics," coach Park Sung-Hwa confirmed.

"After discussing the matter with the Korean Football Association, we made the decision considering the fact that Park isn't fit and he will be in competition at his club."

Juve eyeing Croatia's Rakitic

Juventus are expected to make a bid for Ivan Rakitic, currently in the Euro 2008 Croatia squad. Juve almost signed the Schalke midfielder last year but then opted for Momo Sissoko in the January transfer window.

Juve still consider Rakitic as a potential signing and have been watching his international per-formances with interest. At the age of 20, Rakitic is an exciting talent and would be expected to fetch around £12m.

The Swiss-born former Basel player could be the heir to Czech veteran Pavel Nedved, who will be hanging up his boots at the end of next season.

Rehhagel will stay on

Greece coach Otto Rehhagel will stay on until 2010 despite the team's disappointing performances at Euro 2008, Greek FA chief Vassilis Gagatsis told reporters.

Euro 2004 winners Greece crashed out of the tournament even before the final game against Spain today, after losing both their Group D matches against Sweden and Russia. But Gagatsis said Rehhagel, who took over in 2001, would see out his contract, recently extended until 2010.

"We just signed a new contract and we will continue together until 2010," Gagatsis said. "It is easy to change a coach but trust and continued support is what has kept this team together."

Ronaldinho, Deco, Eto'o not needed

Ronaldinho, Deco and Samuel Eto'o do not feature in Pep Guardiola's plans at Barcelona, the Primera Liga club's new coach said yesterday.

"We are putting a team together and they aren't in our thoughts but we'll see what happens," Guardiola said at his official presentation.

The 37-year-old former Spain and Barca midfielder has signed a two-year contract with the club, replacing Frank Rijkaard who was sacked at the end of last season.

After two years without silverware, and a disappointing third-place finish last season, an overhaul was always on the cards.

Ronaldinho, 28, who shone for the club when they won back-to-back league titles and a European Cup in 2006, suffered a string of injury and fitness problems last year and started only 13 of 38 league matches.

He has been courted by Manchester City and Milan.

Wenger denies Kompany interest

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has no plans to carry out a swoop for Hamburg defender Vincent Kompany this summer.

Wenger had been expected to strengthen his back-line as he looks to rework his side ahead of the 2008/09 term.

Centre-back Kompany, who signed for Hamburg from Anderlecht in 2006, has previously been linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium, with Wenger expressing his interest in the 22-year-old.

But it appears the Frenchman has had a rethink over which departments he needs to strenghten during the transfer window.

"I have been interested in Vincent Kompany ever since he was 16, but I am not interested in him this year," Wenger said.

"There is nobody I need for my team's defensive department."
