Napoli coach Edy Reja is to remain in charge despite threatening to quit on Sunday after a furious row with president Aurelio De Laurentiis.

The argument in front of the players followed a 2-2 Serie A home draw with Lazio, who also eliminated the Naples club from the Italian Cup on Thursday.

"In moments like that a lot of phrases and comments can come out that are out of place," film producer De Laurentiis said in a message on the club website (www.sscnapoli.it). "Reja has assured me he will continue."

Roma fans hit by ban

Roma fans have been banned from attending tomorrow's Italian Cup quarter-final first leg at Sampdoria following violent incidents last weekend, Italy's anti-hooligan body said.

Three Catania fans were injured when they were stabbed in disturbances before Sunday's 2-0 defeat by Roma at the Stadio Olimpico.

The hooligan body said in a statement it had decided to intervene "in a rigorous manner against Roma fans" and was determined to act for the long term.

Pompey eye Berger, Baros

Portsmouth are trying to re-sign midfielder Patrik Berger and are also interested in his fellow Czech Milan Baros, who plays for Lyon.

Injuries have limited Berger, 34, to just five substitute appearances at Villa Park this season but Pompey boss Harry Redknapp is ready to take a gamble on him.

Berger has been tipped to move back to his native Czech Republic where he has not played since leaving for Borussia Dortmund in 1995.

His agent Pavel Paska, though, said Villa are unwilling to let Berger go.

Ranieri admits Sissoko interest

Juventus coach Claudio Ranieri is still looking to sign midfielder Mohamed Sissoko from Liverpool.

With £10 million summer signing Tiago struggling to show his best in Turin, Ranieri has confirmed he is still keen on Sissoko.

"Sissoko could arrive," Ranieri was quoted as saying.

"He is a good player who could fit into the pattern of our team."

Bayern consider Podolski options

Bayern Munich striker Lukas Podolski, who has been linked with a move to Manchester City, could be allowed to join another club on loan.

Uli Hoeness, Bayern's general manager, is considering sending Podolski out on loan as he has found it hard to break into the first team this season.

Bayern claim the Germany international, who features in the plans of incoming boss Juergen Klinsmann, is not for sale, but a loan move in the transfer window still seems possible.

Hoeness told Kicker magazine: "I want to help him to make it to the European Championships. And if we loan him out and everything goes well, we have done everything right."

Inter deny Ronaldinho talk

Inter boss Massimo Moratti has refuted suggestions that the club want to sign Ronaldinho.

Adriano Galliani, chief executive of the club's city rivals Milan, claimed that he had been told of Inter's interest in the player by Barcelona president Joan Laporta.

However, Moratti has moved quickly to deny that his side are in the market for the player. "Galliani maybe knows more than I do, but it's not true," he said.

"We will always be interested in good players, but at the moment we do not need to make that kind of investment as the squad is already strong."

Boumsong heading to Lyon

Out-of-favour Juventus defender Jean-Alain Boumsong could join French champions Lyon before the end of the week.

The French stopper was a regular starter during Juve's promotion from Serie B, but he is yet to make a contribution this term.

While injury problems have hampered Boumsong's chances of playing more first-team football, coach Claudio Ranieri doesn't appear to think he is up to the pace of the top flight.

Lupoli joins Treviso on loan

Fiorentina have agreed to loan young striker Arturo Lupoli to Treviso.

Lupoli, who signed for Fiorentina from Arsenal last summer on a free transfer, hasn't had a chance to prove himself as he is behind Adrian Mutu, Christian Vieri and Giampaolo Pazzini in the pecking order.

"Florence wasn't a failure, but it was certainly a disappointment," Lupoli told La Gazzetta dello Sport. "I am ambitious and I know my worth, so I asked to go somewhere else. After six months of being on stand-by, I just want regular games and some faith in me."

Kapo happy at Birmingham

Olivier Kapo has no plans to leave Birmingham, despite speculation he is set to sign for another Premier League club.

The attacking midfielder is the Blues' joint top-scorer with five goals this season, and Wigan, Sunderland and Portsmouth have been linked with him.

"I am confident about our team," Kapo, who joined Birmingham last summer in a £3 million move from Juventus, told the Birmingham Mail. "We have a good manager and staff, we have good players. I like the city, my family is happy, it's good here. There are no problems. I don't want to move!"
