Three food consignments were in the past weeks found not in compliance with existing regulations, the Health Inspectorate Services said.

These included a consignment of food and non-food items which had to be returned to Italy due to breach of food safety regulations.

Another consignment was withheld a few days later as it was not transported under appropriate temperature conditions and due to some labelling irregularities. This consignment will be destroyed.

Joint inspections are regularly carried out between several entities, including the Health Inspectorate, the Agricultural and Fisheries Regulation Division, Customs, the Police and the Malta Competition and Consumer Affairs Authority.
