F.O.I. President Adrian Bajada led an official delegation at a meeting with Malta Labour Party leader Alfred Sant. The meeting, held on September 19 at party headquarters in Hamrun, was the first with Dr Sant since Mr Bajada was elected president earlier this year.
During the meeting the two parties discussed the current economic situation and the FOI recommendations for the forthcoming national Budget. Mr Bajada explained the federation's position on several topics, including the reforms in the education, health and port sectors.
On his part, Dr Sant expressed his concern on Malta's competitiveness and on the lack of economic growth. A significant part of the meeting was taken up by a discussion on the need for the manufacturing industry to move into more value added operations and the need to have a better skilled workforce.
The FOI delegation also included deputy president Martin Galea, vice-presidents Anthony Tabone and Joe Pace, as well as director general Wilfred Kenely. Chris Agius, MLP spokesperson for Industry, accompanied Dr Sant at the meeting.
