Floriana will start the 2013/14 BOV Premier League season with minus six points after they failed to meet a deadline of the MFA licensing board to settle their dues with Birkirkara for the transfer of Thomas Paris.

Floriana were given until noon yesterday to resolve the issue but, despite reaching an agreement with Birkirkara over the payments, the required documents were submitted after the deadline.

Floriana have appealed the decision.

Division One club Marsaxlokk have been hit with an eight-point penalty, effective from the start of next season, after they failed to honour their financial commitments as requested by the licensing board.

Hamrun Spartans, Qormi and Msida St Joseph were granted a full licence and had their transfer prohibitions lifted.
