Floriana made another foray into the transfer market yesterday when they completed the signing of Ivan Woods from Sliema Wanderers.

Woods is expected to ink a two-year deal with Floriana after the latter struck an agreement with Sliema over a transfer fee for the veteran midfielder-cum-forward.

The Greens declared their interest in Woods last month but Sliema were initially reluctant to part company with Woods.

For a time, it looked as though Woods was going nowhere but Floriana’s renewed bid for the Malta international persuaded Sliema to do business.

Woods is the second first-team player to leave Sliema after left-back Ian Azzopardi sealed a move to Valletta last weekend.

The new committee of Floriana have been busy in the transfer market, signing four new foreigners and a host of local players, including Malta U-21 captain Tyrone Farrugia.
