Mgarr farmers shall once again be proudly exhibiting their lovingly grown strawberries at the Festa Frawli which is being held at the village square on April 10.

Eight tonnes of strawberries were sold in last year’s edition and another tonne was used in the making of strawberry products exhibited and sold in stalls.

This year, several stalls will again be selling freshly picked strawberries and qualified chefs will be preparing gourmet dishes, including strawberry risotto, ravioli and soup.

Strawberries will also be dressed with balsamic vinegar or olive oil and topped with ice-cream, chocolate and fresh cream.

They will also be transformed into smoothies and milk shakes. Strawberry wine produced by the farmers themselves will also be on sale.

Besides the strawberry goods on offer, a second kitchen will be offering typical Maltese dishes including bigilla, ftajjar, sfineg, snails, timpana, roasts, salads and pasta.

Entertainment will be provided by various Maltese ethnic groups, folk dance troupes from Malta and Gozo and popular singers.

This year’s festival will also include the participation of Mgarr’s craftsmen who have designed and made strawberry themed souvenirs, which will also be on sale.

Guided tours of the nearby Ta’ Hagrat temples will also be on offer.
