The Football League will come in line with other associations from this season, including the Premier League by implementing the latest 'Respect' initiative, aimed at improving players' behaviour towards the match officials.

This positive move was introduced in Euro 2008 and has now been extended to cover domestic leagues all over Europe.

The Football League have also agreed to adopt the pre-match 'Fair Play' handshake procedure, a standard practice at international and Premier League matches.

Last season, the Football League signed a record £264 million deal with Sky Sport and BBC Sport for domestic TV broadcasting rights.

Another boost for the financially-stricken clubs, especially those in the lower League One and League Two divisions, has been the announcement of an improved TV deal worth £24m from this season .
