The first President’s forum would be launched in April to give the public a chance to air their thoughts and propose solutions to problems facing the country, the government said.

The forum, which is the initiative of President George Abela, will be held once a year under his patronage.

The first event, themed Towards Understanding Malta In Our Time, will be held on April 9 at 10 a.m. at the President’s Palace, Valletta.

Experts will make presentations followed by discussions led by a chairman and a journalist who will put questions to the panel. The floor will be open to the public. Presentations will be made by Henry Frendo, Angela Abela, Gordon Cordina and Oliver Friggieri.

Journalist Reno Bugeja will be questioning the panel with John Grech as chairman.

The discussions, in Maltese, will eventually be published.
