Jess Glynne, who had to drop out of last year’s Isle of MTV concert because of illness, will be taking part in this year’s event.

The 10 edition will be held at the Granaries in Floriana on June 28.

Jess Glynne shot to international stardom following a series of number one singles including Hold My Hand, a dance anthem collaboration with electro-classical group Clean Bandit on Rather Be (winner of ‘Best Dance’ at the 2015 Grammy Awards) and a soulful-house feature on Route 94’s My Love.

Her participation was announced today during a press conference launching the Isle of MTV Malta marketing campaign.

Viacom vice president Russell Samuel said this had been a wonderful decade during which the concert continued to champion the hottest established and new talent.

The Isle of MTV is this year being held during the Malta Music Week to give people coming to Malta purposely for the event the opportunity to experience a diverse programme of musical activities not limited to clubbing, Malta Music Week organiser Owen Spiteri said.

MTA chairman Paul Bugeja said the concert was one of 145 events marketed by the authority last year and of 250 being marketed this year. These events excluded feasts.

Tourism Minister Edward Zammit Lewis said efforts were being made to shift this from one night to a whole week exploiting visibility with a sub segment of youth.

Malta would also be taking the opportunity to show that it was capable of organising large scale events.
