The companies Go and Smart Technologies have donated six laptops to Puttinu Cares, the charity that aids children with cancer.

The laptops, which are equipped with wireless internet access, will be used in the cancer ward for children at Mater Dei Hospital.

Through the generosity of sponsors, all the rooms that make up the Rainbow Ward are now equipped with LCD televisions, DVDs, a multi-media player as well as high-tech games including PlayStations and Nintendo Wii.

Victor Calvagna, chairman of Puttinu Cares, thanked Go for its ongoing support and Smart Technologies for sponsoring the laptops.

He said "children with cancer have to stay for long periods in Rainbow ward. I have no doubt that the equipment and services donated by Go and Smart Technologies together will help these children to continue their education through a difficult time whilst they undergo chemotherapy. "This is possible through the generosity and kindness of both companies. I sincerely hope that other large locally-based companies will follow suit."
