An audio guide tour company yesterday accused the Manoel Theatre’s board of directors of abusive and illegal behaviour, claiming they had plagiarised documents offered to them as part of a proposal for a tour of the theatre.

In a court protest, Explore Malta Ltd said it had submitted a proposal to Manoel Theatre for an audio guide of the theatre. The theatre’s management gave a “clear indication” that the proposal had been accepted, however, shortly afterwards, a call for tenders was issued for the same project.

The tender documents used the same ideas, the same expressions and the same plans drawn up by Explore Malta Ltd in its original proposal, word for word, the company claimed.

The company was asked to re-submit their tender because of a “legal issue” but on September 6 was informed it had lost.

Explore Malta said this was clearly illegal and abusive behaviour by the directors and asked them to reconsider its tender. The company also warned it was holding the directors responsible for any damages incurred.

Lawyer Neville Camilleri and legal procurator Marie Claire Bartolo signed the protest.
