This year's fireworks festival is to be held at Marsaxlokk, Ghajn Tuffieha and the Grand Harbour.

The festival, now in its 12th edition, will be held between April 26 and 30.

Tourism Minister Karmenu Vella said those taking part will include companies from Spain, Italy, Germany and Portugal as well as Our Lady of Mt Carmel of Zurrieq and tal-Ġilju of Mqabba.The minister spoke of the importance of the festival as a tourist attraction.

The CEO of the Malta Tourism Authority, Josef Formosa Gauci, said that for the second year, the festival would not be restricted to Grand Harbour but would be held in different localities for a bigger audience. Viewers will be able to vote through SMS.

The festival opens on April 26 with a fireworks display at Marsaxlokk. Another display will be held at Ghajn Tuffieha on April 28 and the festival ends in Grand Harbour on April 30.
