The medical condition of Raymond Sultana, 55, of Ta' Xbiex, who was critically injured in a Zebbug fireworks factory blast on Wednesday, has improved and is no longer life-threatening, the police said this morning.

The blast, at 12th May Fireworks Factory, demolished a room and slightly injured  Charlton Mifsud, 33, of Msida. Fireworks stored in other parts of the 12-room complex were not affected.

Mr Sultana is the licence holder of the only fireworks factory in Zejtun, which this year had the feast cancelled because of the death of the parish priest. For safety purposes, because of the stored fireworks there, Mr Sultana had opted to work in Zebbug.
