I would like to express my sincere gratitude to all those in their respective departments who in any way contributed to the smooth handling of the fires that broke out in our yacht yard early on April 24.

It is most reassuring to know that such unfortunate situations can and are dealt with in an efficient and professional manner that in turn diminishes the possibility of further devastation and potential endangerment to human life.

During this exercise, all departments demonstrated qualities that we should all be very proud of. All too often we tend to focus on what is lacking on our island as opposed to the commendable efforts we often come across.

Once again, I would like to thank the Civil Protection Department and the police for assisting in making this experience as painless as possible and to congratulate them on the level of quality service we witnessed.
