Updated - Adds new video

A fire broke out this morning in a factory building - known as the former Honda showroom building - at Mriehel Industrial Estate.

The police and several fire crews of the Civil Protection Department were on site and quickly controlled the situation.

No one was injured.

The building is currently being renovated and turned into offices for an IT software development firm.

The blaze was reported at about 8 a.m. It produced a dark cloud of smoke which was visible from several areas around Malta.

The cause of the blaze was not immediately known. At about 9 a.m. the fire brigade installed smoke extractors in the building and deployed a thermal camera to detect the core of the blaze.
