Between €20,000 and €25,000 worth of damage was caused by a fire at Castille this morning which appears to have been caused by a short circuit. No one was injured.

The reception area desk and benches were destroyed in the blaze and the false ceiling had started to melt.

The fire was put out shortly after it had started. Two fire engines, the bomb disposal unit, Police Commissioner Peter Paul Zammit and Assistant Commissioner Neville Aquilina, many police officers paramedics and members of the Civil Protection Department were on site.

An inquiry is being held.
