Thirty-eight new film releases, including no fewer than 15 blockbusters, will hit cinema screens between today week (June 22) and September 30.

KRS Releasing Limited said the films consisted of a variety of genres, ranging from animation-comedy adventures to thrillers, dramas and sci-fi.

The line-up includes a remake of Ben Hur, due to be released in August, and Independence Day – Resurgence due next week.

The Shallows, Ghostbusters, Star Trek Beyond, Legend of Tarzan and Bridget Jones’s Baby are some of the other blockbuster titles.

Children and family films will include BFG, Finding Dory and Ice Age – Collision Course.

KRS has also kept its younger audiences in mind and will be holding National Cinema Day on July 9 and the second of its twice-yearly children’s cinema days on September 3.

KRS managing director Charles Pace said that over the 26-week period between December 16 and June 15, 75 feature films were released, including 20 in 3D. Fourteen of the releases ran for over seven weeks, with London Has Fallen, Daddy’s Home and How to be Single playing for 10 weeks.

Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens occupied the number one position for four weeks.
