The Fgura council shall be collecting samples of the black dust which has been plaguing the town for the past years to pass on to the Malta Environment nad Planning Authority for testing.

In a statement, mayor Byron Camilleri said the decision was taken during the council meeting on Monday.

He said he moved a motion submitting the proposal and the five Labour councillors voted in favour. One PN councillor voted against and the other two PN councillors abstained.

Mr Camilleri said that although the problem was not the council's responsibility, he believed the council should be proactive and assist the country's authorities in hope that it would one day be solved.
