The Ghaqda Nazzjonali Armar tal-Festi fit-Toroq has called for the drawing up of a new document on feasts to completely replace the Curia's current document Nirrestawraw il-festi flimkien.

In a statement, the organisation said it was still in discussions with the Curia on the celebration of feasts.

It expects to again meet the Curia immediately after Easter, with discussions focusing on responsibility for external festivities.

This has also been a sticking point in talks between the Curia and the Ghaqda Kazini tal-Banda.

The Ghaqda Nazzjonali Armar tal-Festi fit-Toroq said that since the start of talks, it had insisted on its position that the church had no exclusive  responsibility of these celebrations. External festivities were a collective responsibility shared equally between all those organised the festivities in line with the law.

The association said it had made a number of recommendations on which there seemed to be verbal agreement.

However, these recommendations would not come into effect before the issue of responsibility for the external celebrations was settled.

It said that on this issue, it would continue to cooperate with the Ghaqda Kazini tal-Banda and the Ghaqda Piroteknika Maltija.
