Ferrari launched its 2012 formula one challenger on its website today, having been forced to cancel its formal launch because of heavy snow in Marenello.

The car, as promised, features a more radical approach to previous models. Visually, the most striking departure is a 'stepped' nose.

The technical design was in the hands of former McLaren engineer Pat Fry who has migrated to the red squad along with a number of his colleagues.

McLaren launched their car - with more graceful lines - on Tuesday.

Ferrari came third in the constructors' championship in the past two years, behind Red Bull and McLaren.
