Historian Henry Frendo and his wife have been appointed by the Attard Council as judges in the selection of the winner of the worldwide Fenice Europa Book Prize.

The initial encounters took place in Milan, Pieve Emmanuele, with which the Attard Council is twinned. The three finalists were authors Edit Bruck from Hungary, Emmanuele de Villepin from France and Paola Capriolo from Italy.

Prof. Frendo, former mayor of Attard, was accompanied by mayor Norbert Pace, who also held meetings with his Milanese counter-parts, Rocco Pinto and Franco Algeri and other dignitaries.

Mr and Mrs Pace presented Mr and Mrs Pinto with a Maltese work of art in ceramics produced by Alka Ceramics, while Prof. and Mrs Frendo donated a copy of his latest book.
