President Eddie Fenech Adami has left his official residence at San Anton Palace after a short ceremony during which he thanked the staff for their service.

The President and Mrs Fenech Adami went to San Anton after Mass at St John's Co-Cathedral this morning.

As they left for the last time, the domestic staff lined up to bid them farewell. Mrs Fenech Adami was presented with a bouquet of flowers.

Dr Fenech Adami admitted at a recent interview that his family never really left their private residence at Birkirkara. New President George Abela has said however that San Anton will be his full time residence.

From San Anton, Dr and Mrs Fenech Adami proceeded to Valletta and arrived at Palace Square escorted by mounted police.

They were welcomed by the Commander of the Armed Forces and President Fenech Adami was accorded a national salutre before inspecting the guard of honour.
