Carmelo Aquilina was recently elected Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists and has also been appointed head of Aged Care Psychiatry Services.

After graduating from the University of Malta in medicine in 1986, Dr Aquilina went to the United Kingdom to train in psychiatry in 1988. He qualified as a psychiatrist in 1992 and as a specialist in old age psychiatry in 1996.

He worked in Sheffield, Eastbourne and London, and in 2006 moved to Auckland, New Zealand, to run an Old Age Service.
