The feast of Don Bosco, patron saint of children and youth, was celebrated at the Don Bosco Oratory in Victoria last Sunday.

The vicar-general Giovanni Gauci celebrated Mass. In his homily Mgr Gauci spoke about the importance of a holistic formation of the young and lauded any investment made in this direction by the state, the Church and society.

At the end of Mass, Don Bosco Oratory director Fr Effie Masini presented Prime Minister Lawrence Gonzi and Mgr Gauci with a book on Don Bosco in Maltese entitled Tifkiriet.

The ceremony was concluded with the blessing of animals and pets.
