After 16 games in the first two rounds of the Mediterranean Challenge Cup qualifying tournament at the Eden SuperBowl, the current leaders in the respective divisions are Brian Farrugia and Melissa Anastasi.

The two lead a field of 26 bowlers (20 male and six female), all looking to represent Malta in this year's VII Mediterranean Challenge Cup in Rome on March 31. The top two from each category will earn that right.

Farrugia took the early lead having bowled an impressive 1,817 total over his initial eight games, a good lead which served him in good stead for the remaining two sessions. He is followed by Mauro Anastasi and Kenneth Arpa.

In the ladies section, 'sister act' Melissa Anastasi and Sue Abela currently hold the qualifying positions with respective totals of 3,318 and 3,266. Jenny Swift trails by 188 pins in third and Doris Camilleri lies fourth on 3,078.
