The Prime Minister has answered my question as to why many restaurants in Malta are now using imported frozen vegetables instead of the much superior local produce: The price of vegetables to the consumer is four times that which is paid in the UK.

It is up to the government to make sure that the farmer gets a fair price for his produce, but in the meantime, why cannot farmers' markets be organised so that the farmer sells directly to the public? Not only would this ensure that the farmer gets his just desserts, but it would also bring down prices and encourage the farmer to grow more.

Something also needs to be done about the fishing industry. For an island surrounded by the sea to have to import foreign fish is a disgrace.
