Those who are against divorce speak a lot about strengthening the family. But I believe a couple in a troubled marriage in a society where they can resort to divorce if they so wish, but yet opt to stick together and work it out, is actually far stronger than a couple in a troubled marriage who wish to divorce but can’t do so solely because they live in a society that won’t allow it.
Could it be that many are afraid that the introduction of divorce will expose too much truth about the supposedly faithful Maltese Catholics?
