Parliamentary Secretary Michael Falzon this evening avoided Opposition questions in Parliament on who authorised the expropriation of part-ownership of a property in Old Mint Street, who decided that it was in the public interest, whether further expropriations would be made, and whether any further expropriations would be made by Marco Gaffarena.

The questions were put by Opposition leader Simon Busuttil and Nationalist MPs Mario de Marco, Ryan Callus and Jason Azzopardi.

Dr Falzon said he could not comment or make commitments while inquiries were under way.

However he did not interfere in the process.

Dr Falzon said he was comforted by a declaration by the Opposition leader last week that he had not pocketed money from this deal.

Interjecting, Dr Busuttil said what he had said was that he ‘imagined’ that the parliamentary secretary did not  make money from this deal.

Dr Falzon said he would like to hear a recording, possibly as some future sitting.
