In a statement posted on Faithless’s official website on March 18, frontman Maxi Jazz announced that the band will be splitting up after their present tour ends at London’s O2 Brixton Academy on April 8.

“After 15 years and six albums, I think we’ve probably made our collective point by now and that it’s time to close the book and return to the library,” read the statement.

Jazz described the band’s career as “a most unbelievable, epic and moving experience, stretching over years and tens of thousands of miles... joyful, exhilarating and empowering”, while also acknowledging the fans’ important role in the band’s consistent success and longevity.

“The album The Dance Never Ends was written and produced for you, as a thank you, but also as a goodbye,” he said.

The band’s following played a big part in giving Faithless so many hit singles and albums, as well as helping to transform the band’s concerts into uplifting experiences, and Jazz’s statement ensured that their fans knew how important their support had been and how much it meant to the band.

“If I devoted the rest of my life to the task, I could never thank you enough. I have memories that will still be with me in my next life. You’ll be in my heart forever. Listen for my voice in future lifetimes, I only grow in your shadow, you’re the sun to me. One Love. Maxi.”

Formed in early 1995 by Maxi Jazz along with Sister Bliss together with Rollo, who has never appeared with the band in their live shows, Faithless first shot to fame with the single Salva Mea, consolidating their success with the epic Insomnia, which remains a classic dance-floor anthem to this day.

The band performed live in Malta twice, first in 2002 and again last year.
