The Hyundai Getz has had an exterior facelift preserving its original looks while bringing it more into line with European styling expectations.

Since it was introduced at the Geneva motor show in 2002 the Getz has sold over 550,000 units, its agents said. It is currently the biggest selling model in the Hyundai range.

The car also has a new 1.5 VGT diesel engine designed and developed with major input from the Hyundai R&D Centre in Germany and described as state of the art.

It is available in both 110 bhp and 88 bhp versions. As with all current Hyundai engines, it complies with Euro 4 regulations.

The other new entry is the 1.4 litre petrol delivering 97 bhp. This will be available with an four-speed automatic gearbox.

Meridian Enterprises Co. Ltd said the new Hyundai Getz starts off at Lm4,150 for the 1.1-litre 3-door version in basic specifications. The mainstream five-door fully accessorised version will retail at Lm5,200 and includes air conditioning, power steering, electric windows, central locking, electric mirrors, driver's airbag, height adjustable seat and steering, rear split and reclining seats, colour coded bumpers, tinted glass, rear wiper, immobiliser, radio preparation and six speakers.
