The Mdina local council has been ordered to remove controversial restoration works done on Howard Garden.

The landscaping, carried out by a group of French students last week, covered part of the garden near the Mdina main gate in several metres of white gravel.

The works sparked a barrage of comments on social media with more than 500 residents and garden lovers taking to Facebook to lament the unwelcome facelift.

It turns out that the Mdina local council had not applied for the landscaping works to be carried out on the garden, which is scheduled.
