There is no fire, no smoke, no sound, no smell. An effortless press of a button, and lives are ruined, characters destroyed, careers ended. And it does not stop there.

Millions of hours are wasted every day over the world, in pursuit of an ego trip or in search of relevance or, worse still, to appease a yearning for human contact. One bad judgement and the gates of hell are swung open, stamping an eternal curse on the guilty and the innocent alike, never to be broken, never to be forgotten. Facebook is our own Pandora’s box. Open it if you dare and suffer the consequences.

For playwright Joseph Galea, this was the fodder of his new play Rajtha Fejsbuk. A jilted young woman sends a sex video to a friend. It ends up on the web and goes viral, brutally destroying reputations and lives. In the ensuing battle for survival, hidden secrets are revealed.

Rajtha Fejsbuk is being presented by Staġun Teatru Malti and directed by Carlos Farrugia at the Manoel Theatre today and tomorrow at 8pm and on Sunday at 3 and 7pm. Tickets may be obtained at the booking office, by calling 2124 6389 or at https://www.teatrumanoel.com.mt.
