The Mediterranean branch of FACE, the organisation representing European hunting associations, has offered to help the Maltese government apply a derogation to permit the live bird capturing of huntable species this autumn/winter on the same basis as similar derogations in other EU Mediterranean countries.

In a statement, the Hunters' Federation, FKNK, said that it took the initiative to request FACE to offer the government assistance.

FACE Med president Giovanni Bana then wrote to Prime Minister Lawrence Gonzi offering his assistance.
