Floriana are through to the fourth round of the FA Trophy after easing past St Lawrence Spurs 3-0 at the Tedesco Stadium.

The Greens were in control right from the outset and they took just 14 minutes to forge ahead. Firas Aboulezz picked Mauricio Villa on the edge of the area and the Argentine striker moved past two defenders before hitting a rasping drive that gave no chance to St Lawrence goalkeeper Richard Sammut.

Villa almost struck again six minutes later when he was put clear by Ezeadi but he was blocked by Sammut.

The lively Aboulezz handed Piciollo the chance to make it 2-0 but the Italian forward fired wide with only Sammut to beat.

Just before the half-time whistle, Piciollo’s grounder whizzed past the upright.

Floriana continued to run the show on the restart and on 57 minutes Aboulezz fedd the printing Emanuel Briffa whose shot lacked power and Sammut easily blocked.

Aboulezz was unlucky not to get a goal his excellent performance deserved as on 70 minutes the towering midfielder surged forward and hit a firm low drive that came off the upright.

Here, St Lawrence goalkeeper Sammut suffered an injury and was replaced by Elliott Fenech.

Villa completed his hat-trick on 74 minutes when for the umpteenth time the Argentine striker received a pass from Aboulezz and hit the ball past Fenech.
