The Formula 1 circus is on its summer break and news is thin, but this is the silly season, and the gossip continues.

With Fernando Alonso reportedly hitting a new low at McLaren and contemplating a move at the end of the season, Renault manager Flavio Briatore continues to show interest in getting his former charge back into the Renault stable, but interest is reportedly also being shown by BMW and Nick Heidfeld's manager says an Alonso-Heidfeld pairing would be welcomed.

It is not clear, though, whether Heidfeld himself has inked a contract for next year, in which case should Alonso move to BMW, it would be to the detriment of Pole Robert Kubica.

Nico Rosberg, meanwhile, is already being touted as a replacement for Alonso at McLaren. Nico is contracted with Williams for next year (as is Alonso with McLaren) and several millions would therefore have to change hands for such transfers to happen.

As has been said before, several drivers could be eyeing the empty seats next year, including Giancarlo Fisichella, currently at Renault and Alexander Wurz, who is at Williams.

Flavio Briatore, meanwhile, has, been concentrating on other things too. He is set to marry former model Elisabetta Gregoraci next year. She is 30 years his junior.

Briatore is reportedly also in the frame to buy British soccer team Queens Park Rangers. F1 commercial chief Bernie Ecclestone a few weeks ago confirmed he was showing an interest in buying Arsenal

The British media, meanwhile, report that championship leader Lewis Hamilton may have ditched his long-time girlfriend Jodia for an unidentified brunette whom he was spotted kissing on the yacht of McLaren shareholder Mansour Ojjeh. Jodia had been with Hamilton since his karting days and used to pray to Buddha for his racing success. Hamilton is also said to have dispatched a team to find him a luxury apartment in Monaco.

Scott Speed, who recently lost his drive with Toro Rosso is back in his native USA looking at new racing options, any may continue to race for Red Bull (owners of Toro Rosso) in the US.

Vitantonio Liuzzi, who has also lost his Toro Rosso drive is meanwhile continuing to look for another F1 drive next year.
