The owners of a house in Valletta have filed a judicial protest against the government and the Mediterranean Conference Centre, claiming they were left out of pocket by almost €70,000 as the alternative property they were given as part of compensation was valued at €30,000 and not €100,000 as agreed.

Lilian Cassar, Alfred Cassar, Josette Mizzi and Sylvana Magrin said the agreement with the conference centre was that their property was worth €300,000. As compensation, they were given €200,000 in cash and an apartment said to have a value of €100,000.

However, it resulted that the apartment actually had a value of €30,000 so they were left out of pocket by some €70,000.

The claimants requested that they be given the money they are owed.

Lawyers David Camilleri and Joseph Gatt signed the protest.
