Having missed the boat as far as the league title was concerned, Exiles' attention has shifted to sharpening up for a possible assault on the KO.

Second spot in the table was also there for grabs, even if victory over Otters would still leave them three points adrift of Ta' Xbiex.

The spoils were duly secured yesterday, as Marco Manara's team held sway throughout after laying a thick 4-0 base at the end of the first session.

The Gozitans partially halted the slide when finishing on the wrong end of a 4-3 second session scoreline. But there was little doubt as to the outcome as Exiles' superiority was translated into more goals in another high-scoring third session. It was free-wheeling in the fourth.

In the end, it turned out to be the best game for Exiles since the start of the second phase, albeit against lowly opposition. Nevertheless, it was a good omen for the Sliema team in view of their impending tussles at the end of the season.
