HSBC Group Chairman Stephen Green has launched a book entitled Historic Chapels of Malta & Gozo 3600. The book, published by Miranda Publishers and sponsored by HSBC, documents the history and architectural beauty and significance of 32 wayside chapels and small churches in Malta and Gozo.
The book was launched at the Carmelite Priory in Mdina, where a photographic exhibition of the chapels and small churches featured in the book is running until Easter Sunday.
"With 359 churches distributed among 84 parishes, I recognise it can't have been an easy job choosing just 32 chapels for this book, when there are so many fine examples of ecclesiastical buildings in Malta," said Mr Green. "However, thanks to its excellent photography, the book provides an overview of the breadth of Malta's chapels and churches; from humble 12th century structures to breathtaking baroque churches. Each one provides a fascinating glimpse into Malta's rich history."
Historic Chapels of Malta & Gozo 3600 is authored by Dr Joseph Grima, with photography by Italian Enrico Formica.
