The Italo-Maltese executive programme for cultural co-operation provides for the award of a per diem allowance to promote the annual exchange of up to 10 Italian academics and 10 University academic members of staff or researchers.

Full-time academic members of staff or researchers are eligible to apply for funding under the agreement. Italian academics to be invited to the University must also be full-time members of staff or full-time researchers (ricercatori confermati) in the Italian institutions concerned can avail themselves of funding through this agreement.

The duration of the visits under this agreement cannot be less than five days long and not more than 10 days. The application should contain a covering letter that specifies the proposed dates of departure and arrival and the number of nights spent abroad. Italian lecturers who are accepted to participate in exchange trips under this protocol are given a per diem of Lm35 (€81.50) per night. Maltese lecturers who are accepted to participate in exchange trips under this protocol are awarded a per diem of €93 per night.
