An inmate who was released from prison in February was yesterday jailed again for a year and a half after he admitted to trying to steal from a butcher last month.

Carmel Mugliett, 47, of Vittoriosa was yesterday charged with attempted theft from Borg Brothers Butchers in Mosta late at night on March 21, damaging the premises and relapsing.

Legal aid lawyer Renzo Porsella Flores discussed the case at the Bench with Magistrate Claire Stafrace Zammit and Police Inspector Anthony Portelli. Subsequently, Dr Porsella Flores said that Mr Mugliett would be admitting to all the charges.

The court took into consideration the fact that Mr Mugliett had relapsed before jailing him.
