Lt. Gen. Ton Van Osch, Director-General of the European Union Military Staff, is in Malta today for talks with the Armed Forces of Malta.

During a visit the AFM's Maritime Squadron base this morning, he was given a demonstration of the AFM's shipboarding, search and seizure techniques and skills as recently utilised off the Horn of Africa by Maltese troops serving with EU NAVFOR 'Atalanta'.

Later this morning, General Van Osch also met the crew of the Dutch Navy ship HNLMS 'Zuiderkruis'.

General Van Osch is seen above inspecting a guard of honour on arrival at the Maritime Squadron base at Haywharf, Floriana.
