Inter striker Samuel Eto'o has been talking up the effect of boss Jose Mourinho ahead of tomorrow's Champions League final at the Bernabeu against Bayern Munich.

Eto'o's views about Mourinho are distinctly different from those of Bayern Munich winger Arjen Robben who has questioned the former Chelsea manager's football philosophy.

Speaking to the UEFA website, Eto'o, who also has worked under the likes of Frank Rijkaard and Pep Guardiola, described the Portuguese as one of a kind.

"Jose is unique as a coach and as a human being. He's unique, he's a one-off. He says what he thinks," he said before praising his boss's work ethic.

"That formula makes for great results. Until now, Jose has found the right formula for his squad. This creates the right relationship and brings good results."

Eto'o will be playing in his second straight Champions League final and third in all.

He was a scorer and a winner with Barcelona against Arsenal in 2006 and last year against Manchester United.

But he says this one will be different against a team that has impressed Europe with its attacking flair this season.

"Those two finals were against English teams, this will be a new kind of experience - me at a different club, coming up against a great Bayern team," he said.

"It's not only (coach Louis) van Gaal, it's the whole team, the coach, the players. Those are the strengths of Bayern.

"The coach prepares the strategy. The players then have to be able to do what the coach wants."

While many may be focusing on former Real Madrid and Chelsea winger Robben as Bayern's main threat tomorrow, Eto'o points out a former Barcelona team-mate of his as someone to watch out for, Mark van Bommel.

"He's a leader, a great player. I've had the opportunity to meet great players throughout my career and he is a real champion.

"He has a great mentality, he's always positive, he's a warrior, he gives everything. He's a decisive weapon for his team."

Negative football

Meanwhile, Robben has taken a swipe at Mourinho's negative tactics ahead of tomorrow's Champions League final.

Robben played under Mourinho for three years at Chelsea and grew tired of his safety-first philosophy.

The Holland international believes Mourinho was too concerned with winning at all costs and didn't let his players express themselves.

"He puts out a winning team, it doesn't matter if it's done with nice football or not," Robben told BBC Sport.

"The philosophy at Bayern is the coach (Louis van Gaal) wants to win games by playing nice football."

The 26-year-old added: "As a player you want to play and enjoy the game, that's also an important part."

Robben gradually fell out of favour with Mourinho at Chelsea because the Portuguese coach was unimpressed with his player's poor injury record and switched to a formation that made less use of wingers.

"I was working with him three years at Chelsea. It was a successful time, he's a big personality and as a coach of a top team you need to be," Robben said.

"He knew how to work with big players and put them together and let them work together.

"He certainly knew what he was talking about and had the respect of every single player. But we started to play more in this diamond without wingers, which is not good for me. The system changed a bit so I made my decision and left."
