Samuel Eto’o has warned his Inter team-mates not to drop their level when they host Sampdoria tonight.

The Nerazzurri head into the encounter at the San Siro stadium in buoyant mood.

Wednesday’s 4-3 triumph over Tottenham Hotspur in the Champions League allowed Inter to go three points clear at the top of Group A.

Eto’o, who struck twice against the Spurs, knows his team will face another battle against Samp.

“It’s not going to be an easy game,” said the Cameroon international.

“They have great players and we must keep a close eye on (Antonio) Cassano. He is a unique player in his position and he can make life difficult for us.”

Inter coach Rafael Benitez will be hoping Eto’o can maintain his goalscoring form this weekend.

Eto’o, who is the joint top scorer with six goals alongside Napoli’s Edison Cavani, fired Inter to a 1-0 win at Cagliari last weekend.

The result lifted Inter level on 14 points with second-placed Milan, two points behind league leaders Lazio.

Sampdoria will have to raise their game if they are to have a chance of surprising the defending champions.

The Blucerchiati head into the clash at the San Siro on the back of a 2-1 defeat against 10-man Metalist in the Europa League.

The result marked their first slip in the competition and halted a five-match unbeaten run for Samp.

“We had a blackout in the second half when playing in numerical superiority,” said Sampdoria coach Domenico Di Carlo.

“It cost us dearly. We will try to avenge this loss in two weeks’ time but now we must turn our attention in the league.”

Samp, who beat Fiorentina 2-1 last weekend to climb to seventh, have not won on the road since beating Roma 2-1 on April 25.

Di Carlo’s men have mustered three points on their travels this season.
