The Emergency Response and Rescue Corps has started its summer lifeguarding service at the Blue Lagoon in Comino.

ERRC lifeguards are stationed at the centre of the Blue Lagoon area with the support of the hydro ambulance Lifesaver 1, for the provision of prompt transportation to Mgarr or Cirkewwa.

The first day of service, yesterday, was busy for the lifeguards on duty. They assisted a number of tired swimmers, who tried to cross over to Cominotto, to the shore.

The lifeguarding service is financially supported by the Malta Tourist Authority. Support is also being provided by the Ministry for Gozo, Mgarr Marina, Transport Malta, Police, Armed Forces of Malta, Police and the Civil Protection Department.
