Congratulations to your columnist Claire Bonello for her piece last Sunday. She rightly called a spade a spade.
It’s worth recalling that the Nationalist Party before the election had promised, echoing French President Nicolas Sarkozy, that “together, everything is possible”. This was a big lie.
Where in its electoral manifesto did the PN suggest such gluttonous increases in MPs’ honoraria and ministers’ salaries, when a high percentage of workers and pensioners are living from hand to mouth? Transparency my foot!
Way back in 1987, the PN warned workers: “Titħanżrux!” (“Don’t be greedy”). And now, who can point an accusing finger at the PN government, saying ‘Kemm tħanżirtu!’? MPs are to be reminded that they were elected to Parliament non nobis sed omnibus (not for us but for all).
Should we now use Mark Antony’s comment: “So are they all, all honourable men?”
