The European Parliament's debate on January 15 on Malta's citizenship scheme follows a request by the Greens to investigate the scheme in Malta and others in Spain, Cyprus, Portugal, Latvia, Greece, Alternattiva Demokratika said this morning.

It said the Greens had tabled an oral question where they asked if the European Council could clarify whether the Maltese Parliament's decision respected the letter and the non-discrimination principle as laid down in the Treaties and the Schengen Borders Code.
