Italian Prime Minister Enrico Letta is expected in Malta for meetings with Prime Minister Joseph Muscat on Sunday and Monday.

Following talks at Castille and a joint press conference on Monday, the two prime ministers are expected to visit the amphibious assault ship 'San Marco', which is engaged in the operation Mare Nostrum, a military and humanitarian operation in the central Mediterranean.

The San Marco  has a flat deck for helicopter operations and a rear dock for landing craft.
