For months we had to endure the trenching works on the Coast Road of Bahar iċ-Ċaghaq until finally the road was zipped up in a very decent way. But the re-instatement did not include the re-instatement of the traffic control markings on the road. The cycle lane signs are there but there are no markings on the road.

This country continues to make many steps forward but our authorities and agencies, established to provide a more professional service and projects, are still far from being what they should be.

It is not acceptable that these authorities continue to take all measurers to increase their revenue but then are unable to finish a job well.

Furthermore no one seems to feel any pinch of responsibility. They brush away criticism with laughter.

They do not, it seems, stop for one minute to think "if only we did our work well". I am not pointing fingers. I am not saying that a lack of markings caused a very terrible accident that has shattered the life of a family and that has shocked everyone. What I am saying is that enough is enough, someone should get their act together and make sure that what needs to be done is in effect done. There are responsibilities at all levels. It is simply not acceptable that projects, large and small, continue to be done in such an unprofessional way.
