I wonder how many pre-election promises could be fulfilled if the €80 million planned to be wasted on this Parliament building were instead spent on honouring those promises?

Rugby, for example, is a team sport where the Maltese are doing extremely well. We rank, or our men's team ranks 50th in the world and our women rank very well Europe wide. However, despite those famous pre-election promises to give Malta better rugby facilities, as they were given to anyone and everyone, to squeeze the tiniest of majorities, this promise has not been fulfilled.

No rugby facilities, not even a funded hostel for Malta's most vulnerable young people, but €80 million minimum to fill what could be a beautifully maintained piazza or garden at the heart of Valletta, mainly to benefit parliamentarians.

If Malta is going through a difficult patch, do lead by example.
